There is however much controversy over which blend has the most health benefits. Much debate also arises regarding which of the recipes is the authentic one.

The main health benefit of essiac or essaic tea pertains to its cancer fighting properties. The tea may also be taken for general health purposes, especially to help in ailments such as diabetes, disorders of the immune system, and liver problems. To this day, it remains the most popular alternative medicine treatment for cancer. Oncology however advises that the tea be taken as a complement to medical cancer treatments. It does however alleviate the tremendous side effects of cancer treatments, and there is much debate over whether the properties of the tea might even fight cancer on their own. However, the herbal tea has been ascertained as a safe remedy in cancer treatment.

Essiac or essaic tea owes its reputation to a Canadian cancer nurse, Rene Caisse, who used it to help treat cancer patients under her care. It as reported that some cancers were cured in this way, and other cancers' collateral effects were greatly reduced, allowing cancer sufferers to live a more productive life, unriddled by further health problems associated with cancer. The name of the herbal blend she used comes from her own family name, as in 'Caisse' spelled backwards.

Sheep sorrel and burdock root contained in the essiac or essaic tea are known to actually kill cancer cells, the other components helping in detoxifying the system and protecting internal organs. The tea is considered a Phase III cancer treatment, and it is the quality and processing of the blend which are at the heart of the cure, as opposed to the exact proportion of the constituents.

Alternative Cancer Cures - The Essiac Treatment

People are getting more interested in alternative cancer cures and well everything that involves alternative, not only alternative medicine but also alternative media for example. People are fed up with all the nonsense and disinformation that comes from the mainstream. And in this article I am going to tell you a little about the alternative cancer cure called The Essiac treatment, which is one from 350 non-toxic cancer treatments that can be found in the Natural Cancer Treatments That Work e-book.

This Essiac treatment was developed by Renée Caisse (1888-1978) a Canadian nurse. Yes, Caisse is Essiac spelled backwards. The formula of this cure was given to Caisse by a patient who[ breast cancer had been cured by an Native American Healer in Ontario in 1922.

Since 1922 thousands of people have been cured with this herbal mixture in Caisse[ own clinic in Ontario. Unfortunately the clinic was shut down in 1942 but the controversy over the cancer cure remained. Even Charles Brusch who was JFK's physician declared that Essiac 'cures cancer'. Caisse never actually made the formula public in her lifetime. And a number of companies now sell the "original" Essiac as tea. It is not know if all of those formulas are authentical.

The users of Essiac believe that it improves the the body's ability to fight cancer and is also effective at reducing the side effects of radiation treatments and chemotherapy. The less side effects there are the better the patient's are able to handle the full course of their treatments - eliminating the interruptions and the delays in treatments.

Here are the 4 core ingredients of Essiac:

- Sorrel: Aloe emodin, isolated from sorrel, which shows considerable antileukemic activity.
- Burdock: It is a root that has historically been used against tumors in several countries: Spain, Italy, China, Chile, Japan etc.
- Indian rhubarb: Certain chemicals in this plant like catechin, aloe emodin and rhein have shown antitumor activity in animal test systems.
- Slippery elm: This contains a polysaccharide and beta-sitosterol both of which have shown anti-cancer activity.

Essiac is becoming more popular and several companies claim to have the right formula and this treatment costs about 4 cents per day when it is homemade.
