Do Hot Dogs Really Cause Cancer?

Not long ago a Vegan Non Profit Group lobbied the New Jersey Legislature to have hot dog packages marked with a label that said "cancer causing product." Of course, I am sure you can understand that the makers of hot dog adamantly opposed such legislation. And the consumer critics (hot dog eaters) of these warning labels said that the Vegan Group obviously had a vested interest since they were against all types of meat anyway; "So, don't eat them then!" they stated.

Perhaps, the real question is; Do hotdogs really cause cancer? We know that processed meats have a hard time digesting in the system and can clog up the human digestive tract. Many colon cancers are thought to have something to do with eating too much processed meats. There is research and studies that suggest that eating too many hot dogs could be quite a bad thing to do over a long period of time.

Nevertheless, anything that is eaten in excess can cause health issues. And for every research paper that the Non Profit Vegan Group could come up with as they lobbied for these labels, the Hotdog Manufactures Association came up with just as many studies and research papers stating otherwise.

Many, including this article author, see hotdogs as an American food and part of our American heritage, and to put such a damning warning labels on these products would be an anti-American act. Still, no one can say for sure if eating hot dogs is why so many folks get colon cancer. Please consider all this.
