Night Sweats - Cancer

Of all the side effects that come along with cancer, night sweats can be one of the most maddening. Waking up in the middle of the night in a puddle of your own sweat can be frustrating and embarrassing. Thankfully, there is a way to help, even if you can't stop the night sweats from occurring.

Memory foam beds are known for being a comfortable alternative to hard traditional mattresses. But did you know that they can also help you maintain coolness throughout the night?

Alternative Cancer

Night sweats are characterized by excessive sweating throughout the night, usually interrupting the sleep cycle. In addition to keeping water by the bed and wearing sweat-wicking pajamas, a new mattress topper could help you make it through the night even if you are having hot flashes.

There's a new type of memory foam on the market - ViscoFresh. Because these cells are larger than those found in plain mattresses and older forms of foam these memory foam mattress toppers allow you to get more air, which helps dry the sweat that's there and prevent more from coming. Though a mattress can't stop hot flashes, it can help you stay comfortable (and dry!) through them.

If you have not been diagnosed with cancer but are trying to find a reason for your unexplained night sweats, see your doctor. Though heavy night sweats are often a symptom, especially of lymphomas, cancer is not the only cause of this annoyance. Oftentimes, the problem can be as simple as a too-hot room or an excess of blankets. It's important to get the right diagnosis to help you fix your problem of hot flashes.
